National Oceanographic Centre
The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) is the UK’s leading institution for sea level science, coastal and deep ocean research and technology development. Recently formed by the merger of two internationally recognised institutions in Southampton and Liverpool, the new Centre aims to be recognised as the world’s leading institution in its field by 2015.
NOC needed a new site to reflect the achievements, capabilities and vision of the new, merged institution. The new site needed to communicate equally effectively with the research community, media and general public.
We conducted an extensive research exercise involving NOC’s stakeholders to identify and prioritise the key areas on which the new site needed to focus; we helped to refine the messaging used on the site to maximise the impact of content; we developed an information architecture for the new site and we created a new design.
