What we do
How we work
Although every project is different and each working relationship unique, there are certain common characteristics found in most projects. The elements below will give you an indication of what you can expect if you decide to work with Headscape. Of course, your project may not need everything listed here.

Review and recommend
Before we can start to design and build your site we first need to understand your business or organisational objectives, target audiences and other factors that could affect the development of your website. We achieve this using the following tools and processes:
- stakeholder interviews and workshops
- user surveying
- expert review
- competitor analysis
- statistical analysis of site usage
- strategy and requirements documentation

Establish the look and feel
Establishing the right look and feel for your website involves working with you to better understand your target audience and corporate identity. We don't bring a particular "Headscape" style to each project, our aim is to create the right design for each brand and its users. Some of the tools we use to establish look and feel include:
- exercises for establishing a site's persona
- reviewing websites that could inspire a new look and feel
- the creation of inspirational mood boards
- the production of design comps

Set the information hierarchy
Good web design is about more than just making a site look pretty. It also involves creating a hierarchy of effectively labelled and organised information that guides users towards the actions we wish them to make. We have a number of tools available to make this possible:
- user personas that describe typical users
- use cases that outline what users wish to achieve from your website
- site maps that display pages in a hierarchical tree
- collaborative wire framing exercises where all stakeholders mockup key pages

-
Produce the code
The code behind your website is just as important as how it looks. This is because you need your website to be available to the largest possible audience using varying devices to access your content and robust enough to last for years to come. To achieve this we use:
- HTML5 code
- the most advanced CSS that will make your website shine in the latest browsers
- JavaScript that will add a layer of interaction that can better engage users

-
Integrate and customise
Because we specialise in complex websites our work often involves integrating with third party systems such as CRM systems or building complex bespoke functionality. We do this using:
- our own library of customisable code
- industry-standard technologies such as Microsoft .Net
- a variety of open source tools where appropriate
- varying levels of CMS from EpiServer through to our own CMS technology to Wordpress depending on your needs
